BookBildr doesn’t have any special formatting requirements for the cover – it creates the cover spread file automatically using the first and the last pages of your book project.
Follow these steps to create a good-looking cover for your book:
- The first page of your book project is the front cover. Design it accordingly by placing cover art as the background, and then add the book title and author’s name as separate text boxes.
2. The last page of your book project will be printed on the back cover. Keep this in mind and make sure your last page isn’t an inner content page.
3. Preview the book at 50% zoom to see your cover and interior as spreads.
4. Click on “Spine” in the top toolbar to customize the book’s spine. Note that the spine is dynamically generated for different book binding types (saddle stitch and coil-bound books don’t have a spine).
Here’s an example of a book cover we get when you place an order. BookBildr will generate the necessary bleed automatically depending on the chosen book binding and the number of inner pages.
